Located south of Baghdad, the base experienced huge explosions causing significant damage, according to reports.

An Iraqi security source indicated that the aircraft responsible for the bombardment had departed from Burj 22 base, located in the Rukban area in northeastern Jordan, close to the Syrian border.

The released images show the extent of the damage at Kalsu Base, with craters raising questions whether they are the result of missile impacts or the detonation of stored munitions.

Iraqi media reported that the incident resulted in the death of one PMF member and injuries to eight others, including an Iraqi army soldier. This count is significantly lower than initial reports from Iranian sources, which claimed eight deaths and dozens of injuries.

A senior Iraqi official told PBS NewsHour that the explosions at Kalsu Base of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Babylon province, eastern Iraq, were allegedly caused by an Israeli airstrike.

U.S. officials stated that the United States and the International Coalition were not involved in the attack on Kalsu Base.
